Editor’s Notes

When preparing a new edition of Samael Aun Weor’s Fundamental Notions of Endocrinology and Criminology (1958) for publication in English, we contemplated some facts about the modern reader:

  1. People judge books by their titles, and this one sounded like a college textbook—something dull, intellectual, and lacking practicality, none of which are qualities of this book. Our first printing of the book literally sat on the shelf, undeservedly finding no readers, because of the title. We were determined to find a way for readers to discover the valuable content of the book, but we also did not want to rename the book entirely, out of respect to the author.
  2. The book was the nineteenth book Samael Aun Weor wrote, and thus was written when he had many readers who already knew the core message of his earlier writings: knowledge of sexuality. Thus in this book he did not repeat what he explained thoroughly in those previous books. For new readers, the book lacked that context and the foundation it is based upon, and we felt that if this book were to be the only one someone were to read, they should at least be introduced to that foundation.

Therefore, in order to craft a title suitable both for the content and the modern reader, and help new readers understand the main body of the book, we expanded the book by drawing from his lectures. We added a section called “Sexology” with three lectures that explain the sexual foundations, and later in the book we added the lecture “Perception of Reality” as a bridge between the two original sections. We hope you agree that this added material makes the book more understandable and interesting, and we hope you like the new title, Sexology, the Basis of Endocrinology and Criminology. Hopefully, it will invite more readers into these valuable studies.

In addition, the chapter “Supraconsciousness” was written in 1959 but revised in 1977 or so by Samael Aun Weor for inclusion in Tarot and Kabbalah (1978). We have included his updated chapter here.

May all beings be happy!
