These yokes were very much employed in Teotihuacán, Mexico. The Mayan in Mesoamerica shape imitated them by performing special esoteric, magic human [prayer] chains with the purpose of making rain.
Three persons found seated in the Oriental posture (legs crossed) were sometimes placed at the center of the human chain. The objective was to assist them in their work related with developing their sacred spinal fires; this is how they were assisted a great deal.
Human chains in the form of a U were performed other times; some frogs were placed among the tribe while they croaked like frogs to make rain and they succeeded. Therefore, this horseshoe figure encloses many magical procedures.
